Free practice and tests, sorted by grade

Whatever your curriculum and style, here is everything on Owl sorted by grade: the free daily practice first, then the year-end tests, and in high school the tests colleges ask for. Each child can have their own account under one parent.

One account for each child, one class for the co-op

Every child gets their own account under one parent, and the Owl Family plan covers up to six children with one family dashboard: minutes, skills and score trend for each. Teaching a co-op class? Owl's teacher tools work on codes: each student sends you a code with their week's effort and weakest skills, and you send back an assignment by skill.

  • Up to six children
  • Family dashboard
  • Class codes for co-op teachers
  • Assignments by skill
  • Printable checkup reports

Questions people ask

Does my state require year-end testing?

It depends on the state. Some ask for nothing, others for a test or an evaluation in certain grades, and the rules change. HSLDA keeps a summary of each state's law, and our homeschool testing guide explains the common options.

Can I use Owl with several children?

Yes. Each child can have their own account under one parent. The Owl Family plan covers up to six children, with every test unlocked and one family dashboard.

Can a co-op teacher use Owl with a class?

Yes. In the teacher tools, each student copies a code with their week's effort, a practice estimate by section and their two weakest skills, and you paste it into your class table. You make an assignment code (a skill and a count) and they paste it to get that set.

Is Owl a curriculum?

No. Owl is practice and test preparation that sits beside the curriculum you already use. Every answer is explained, so it also works as a quick review.

Which of these are free?

Spelling, Math Facts, Owl Thinkers, the Daily Grammar Fix, Vocabulary, the Reading library, Latin practice and the grade checkups are free to use, with no account needed to start. Each test also has free practice; the full study plans and extra practice tests are in the paid plans.
